Heritage Day, coinciding with P.T. Meet was celebrated by IFA on Sept. 10, 2011. In an effort to make the students aware of their rich past an exhibition was held in the premises wherein things related to rural games, utensils, dress, play things, musical instruments and agricultural implements were put on display. The present generation profoundly influenced by Western culture is breaking away from its roots. The rich heritage of Punjab, losing its sheen among the youth is being kept alive through consistent effort of IFA to bring awareness in the students. A heritage village was created in the school in which girls sang Suhags and children were seen playing stapu, geetey, Kotla Chapaki and Barah Tehni, typical rural games which have a mention only in books. Sand roasted makai, jalebis etc were prepared on Bhatti’s and were enjoyed by the young and old alike.
